If you have any questions about the process, you can connect Jenn Wasserman at jenn@prize.foundation.

Step 1: Dream Up Your Winning Photo Concept

Every great photo starts with a powerful perspective. Whether you’re planning a crafted session or hitting the streets for candid shots, think about what story you want to tell and how your image captures your vision.

Once you’ve found your path, explore that subject or find an unexpected moment that reflects your vision!

Step 2: Take Your Photos and Document the Shoot

As you shoot, make sure you can prove when and where your photos were taken. The easiest way is to keep the original EXIF metadata intact, which includes date, time, and location. If your camera does not capture that information, you will need to document your shoot separately. A simple way to do this is by taking GPS-enabled photos on your phone at the location and saving screenshots of that data.

Step 3: Submit Your Photos and Photographer Assets

Photographers must complete and submit their photo entries AND complete the Photographer Submission Form, which serves as a repository for photo titles, descriptions, location and date of capture, photographer information, supporting evidence, and more, no later than Tuesday, July 7, 2026 by 11:59pm Central Time

Up to 30 Finalists will be selected for exhibition and announced in September ahead of Prize Fest which takes place in October.

Step 4: Attend Photo Prize at Prize Fest in October

Finalists will have their work printed and exhibited during Prize Fest, October 14–18, 2026.

During the event, attendees will view the gallery and vote on the People’s Choice Award, while judges determine the Golden Lens winner. The exhibition will continue beyond the festival, giving your work extended visibility in the community.

Step 5: Achieve Photo Prize Fame and Glory

One photographer will be awarded the Golden Lens Grand Prize and receive $1,000, selected by a juror. Another will earn the $500 People’s Choice Award, voted on by the public during Prize Fest .

But like everything we do at Prize, the real value goes beyond the prize. The exposure, the connections, and the experience of seeing your work displayed are what make Photo Prize worth showing up for.
